Ladakh Victim Assistance Scheme, 2022 in the Union Territory of Ladakh

Leh, January 7: The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has notified Ladakh Victim Assistance Scheme in terms of Section 357A of CrPC, 1973 after its reorganisation as a new Union Territory.
The thrust of the scheme is to provide economic assistance to the Victims or his/her dependent(s) who have suffered loss or injury or both as a result of crime especially sexual offences including rape, acid attacks, crime against children, human trafficking, disabilities and burns affected on them.
The application for the compensation can be made either before the State Legal Services Authority or District Legal Services Authority. The amount of compensation as decided by the State Legal Services Authority or District Legal Services Authority shall be paid to the victims or their dependent(s).
The scheme is being implemented to alleviate the suffering of the victims and to ensure that they live a life with dignity as provided under the Constitution
