    KARGIL, JUNE 02, 2022: Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh on Wednesday organized an ‘Induction cum Cultural Exchange Program’ between University of Ladakh and Gujarat University at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall (auditorium) Kargil.
    The program was attended by Prof. S.K Mehta Vice-Chancellor, UoL as Chief Guest, Sayeed Abbas Razvi Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Sudhanshu Jangir, Director Indian Institute of Sustainability (IIS) Gujarat University, Kaneez Fatima, Director Kargil Campus, Dr. Amjad Ali Abbasi, Principal Government Degree College, Drass, Principal Mutahari Public School, Saliskote, Mohd Ali (National Awardee), Head Master Government Middle School, Karith, faculties of UoL, student delegates from Gujarat University and students of Kargil Campus, UoL.
    Welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries with traditional Khataks, Kaneez Fatima, Director, Kargil Campus UoL expressed gratitude to Prof. S.K Mehta, delegates from Gujarat University and other dignitaries for joining the program.
    While speaking on the occasion, Kaneez Fatima said under the leadership of Prof. S.K Mehta the University of Ladakh is scaling to its new heights. She has also encouraged the students for showing seriousness in the academic pursuit as well as excelling in the various campus activities.
    She highlighted that the purpose of organizing such exchange program is not only limited to academic learning, but also cherish and celebrate the diverse culture of India.
    Following which, Prof. S.K Mehta felicitated Masooma Banoo (Chemistry) and Hamida Banoo (Botany) from Kargil Campus, UoL with mementos and certificates for clearing NET/JRF in their first attempt.
    Later, students from Ladakh University, Kargil Campus, Gujarat University, Mutahari Public School and Art and Culture group from Bodh Kharbu showcased scintillating cultural performances to the audience.
    Prof. S.K Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, UoL, Madam Kaneez Fatima, Director, Kargil Campus also felicitated delegates from Gujarat University and students participants from Matahari Public School, Saliskote with mementos and certificates.
    Director, Kargil Campus also felicitated the Vice-Chancellor, UoL, Director, IIS Gujarat University and special guest Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil. After the felicitation ceremony, Zakia Banoo a student from Kargil Campus shared her experiences and learning during their exposure tour to Gujarat University with the audience.
    While addressing the audience, Director, IIS Gujarat University extended gratitude to the people of Ladakh particularly people of Drass and Kargil for consistently protecting the sovereignty of India and their untiring services to the nation during Kargil war.
    Besides, he also extended gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, UoL, EC, LAHDC and Director, Kargil Campus for hosting such a wonderful and memorable exchange cum cultural program.
    He said that Ladakh has huge potential in the field of aerometric and medicinal plants and expressed his willingness to help those students who are interested in taking up the entrepreneur skills and start-up in future.
    While addressing the audience, EC Razvi congratulated the Kargil Campus, UoL and Gujarat University for organizing such an extraordinary exchange program. In the end, he concluded with the hope that the friendship between University of Ladakh and Gujarat University will go a long way.
    While presenting the keynote address, Prof. S.K Mehta stressed that the purpose of organizing such exchange program is to take University of Ladakh to a new height like other leading universities in India.
    He said that UoL is providing students with free space environment, human resources and other infrastructural facilities. The onus is now upon students to reap the benefits of such available resources for their academic growth.
    Prof. Mehta said that he wants to change the general perception of UoL and such initiatives are one of its kinds. In this regard, he said that in order to take UoL along with the other leading universities in India, UoL has already signed MoUs with many prestigious institutions across the country.
    Concluding the program, Dr. Mehboob Ali delivered the vote of thanks to Prof. S.K Mehta, Kaneez Fatima, Dr. Sudhanshu Jangir, Sayeed Abbas Razvi, Principal of GDC, Drass, delegates from Gujarat University, Principals of Govt. Middle School Karith, Mutahari Public School, faculty members and students of Kargil Campus, non-teaching staffs, Art and Cultural group, Bodh Kharbu and Javid for taking out their valuable time for the program.
    Dr. Mehboob Ali expressed gratitude to the press and media persons for the coverage of the entire program.
