    Higher Education Deptt. UT Ladakh gets Provisional Certificates of Students of Ladakh of the batch 2014-15 and 2015-16 issued by Suresh Gyan Vihar University (Rajasthan)

    Leh, February 13: Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh took up the matter of pending degrees and migration certificates of 71 students from Ladakh who had taken admission in the Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur, Rajasthan in 2014-15 and 2015-16 under the Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS). As per Secretary Higher Education, Padma Angmo, the Suresh Gyan Vihar University has handed over provisional certificates of eight students and has agreed to issue a general notification shortly that no enrolled or passed-out students from the Suresh Gyan Vihar University will be denied the Provisional Certificate hereafter.
    Launched in 2011, PMSSS scheme provides scholarships to J&K and Ladakh Students to pursue undergraduate studies outside the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir. All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) implements the PMSSS. 71 students from Ladakh had taken admission in Suresh Gyan Vihar University in 2014-15 and 2015-16 but were denied degree and migration certificate by Suresh Gyan Vihar University after the University claimed that fees was not paid by the students or AICTE.
    AICTE, in its communication to the Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh has stated that Suresh Gyan Vihar University had promised these students that they would get scholarships from AICTE and admitted a large number of students who had not been allotted seats by AICTE and accordingly the University is bound to provide free education to these students and give them certificates.
    The Higher Education Department had deputed, Assistant Professor, University of Ladakh (UoL), Puneet Johar to Suresh Gyan Vihar University from 6th to 12th February, 2022 to resolve the issue. The Suresh Gyan Vihar University handed over the Provisional Certificate of eight students whose details were shared by the Higher Education Department. The Gyan Vihar University also informed that the case already stands sub-judice in the Hon’ble High Court, UT of J&K and Ladakh, and the hearing is scheduled on February 22, 2022.
