    GDC Nubra celebrates World Nature Conservation Day

    Leh, July 28: Botany Department, Government Degree College (GDC), Nubra, today organized a webinar on World Nature Conservation Day with “let us nurture the nature, so we can have better future” as its theme. Director, Snow Leopard Conservancy (SLC) India Trust, Leh, Dr Tsewang Namgail, was the guest speaker.
    Director SLC, Dr Namgail shared his views on the said theme and emphasised on the importance of wildlife and their vital role for the sustainability of the ecosystem.
    Principal, GDC Nubra, Dr. Tsewang Motup in his welcome speech highlighted the importance of nature conservation and shared how the industrial revolution has been a great cause of nature’s destruction.
    Earlier, Assistant Professor, Botany Department, GDC Nubra, Dr. Tsetan Dolker, highlighted the importance of celebrating World Nature Conservation Day. She added that humans should come together to support nature and minimize their destructive efforts. She also said that the conservation of nature is managing and utilising of natural resources wisely.
    More than 50 participants from Ladakh as well as different parts of India participated in the webinar organised by the GDC, Nubra.
    Assistant Professor, Botany Department, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), A. K. Dwivedy; Assistant Professor, Botany Department, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Bihar University; Dr. Aditya Abha Singh, BHU; Dr. Neha Upadhyay BHU and many students from Ladakh and outside also participated in the webinar.
    There was also an interactive session among the participants at the end of the programme regarding the importance of nature conservation and human-wildlife conflicts. Assistant Professor, Dr Tsetan Dolker gave the vote of thanks.
