GDC Drass celebrates International Week of Deaf

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 21, 2022:

Drass celebrated International Week of the Deaf (IWD) 2022, under the chief patronship of principal Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi.
The program was started by Assistant Professor Urdu, Dr. Masrat Hamzah Lone who briefed the students about moral ethics towards the specially-abled people. A documentary on the sign languages was also screened.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Professor Botany, Dr. Imtiyaz Hussain stressed the need of encouragement, empowerment and welfare of the specially-abled people. He advised students to treat them equally in society.
In the end, incharge principal, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad highlighted the role and contribution of specially-abled people such as Stephen Hawkins, John Nash and Andria Boccelli Michael J.Fox etc. He thanked all the faculty members and especially-abled students for taking part in the event.
Every year, the full week ending on the last Sunday of September is observed as IWD. The theme of this year’s IWD is “Building Inclusive Communities for All”.
