EC Punchok Tashi urges DC Kargil to help stranded passengers of Zanskar at Manali

KARGIL, OCTOBER 24, 2021: Executive Councilor for Zanskar Affairs Er Punchok Tashi today urged the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve to render help and make arrangements of boarding and lodging for stranded passengers of Zanskar at Manali by taking up the matter with the concerned authorities.
The EC stated that due to the recent snowfall and closure of Padum-Darcha Road, around 300 passengers belonging to Zanskar have got stuck at Manali on the way back to Zanskar.
The EC Zanskar Affairs said that these passengers are stuck there since October 16 and now facing difficulty to carry on with boarding and lodging as they are staying in hotels and urged the DC Kargil to approach DC Kullu /SDM Manali for providing government accommodation, ration and other essentials to them on humanitarian grounds.

EC Tashi further urged the DC Kargil to request Project DEEPAK to clear snow from Darcha to Shingkunla as 126 RCC (Vijayak) based at Padum has already cleared snow up to Shingkunla Top from Kargyak side so that traffic movement can be restored.
