    Director RD&PRD chairs review meeting to discuss implementation of schemes.

    Kargil, May 24, 2023: Director Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department (RD&PRD), Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi today chaired a review meeting to discuss the implementation of schemes of the RD&PRD in the district.
    Assistant Commissioner Development, Ghulam Mohammad, District Panchayat Officer, Padma Angmo, Assistant Executive Engineers of REW, Kargil, Chairpersons Block Development Council, President, Panchayat Coordination Committee, Kargil, all Block Development Officers besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
    Thorough deliberation and discussions were followed regarding the execution of works under Grant-in-Aid for BDCs and Sarpanches, status of Audited Utilization Certificate, resumption of works under SDP and State Sector and other works and issues related to the department.
    The director sought detailed insights from the PRIs and concerned officers regarding the progress and achievements of works under the above cited works.
    During the meeting, Zubdavi was informed about the status of works under the SDP sector. He directed the concerned officers to find ways to complete and commission pending works of soakage pits for grey water management under GRNREGA. He was informed that 90 percent of the work completion has been achieved under soakage pit works.
    The director reflected that JJM and SBM need to be integrated and meticulous approaches be executed as grey water management is essential part of Swachh Bharat Mission.
    Under State Sector, he was informed about the status of ongoing and other works including construction of libraries, construction of roads under Gram Sadak Yojana and other works.
    The director reflected that livelihood schemes should be promoted and implemented considering financial constraints in near future. He directed that the ongoing works should be followed for resumption and contractors should be asked to expedite works at the earliest.
    During the meeting, he also interacted with all BDC Chairpersons to understand the status of works related to construction of Community Sanitary Complexes, solid waste management units, status of construction of CFCs and BDO building and other works.
    Zubdavi directed to make all toilets functional and informed that Grant in Aid for BDC has been allocated by the UT Administration and will be disbursed to the BDCs soon.
    ACD Ghulam Mohammad while addressing the PRI members said under SBM awareness related to the segregation of waste from village to village must be taken on priority by the BDC Chairpersons.
    Further, he informed that Rs 20 lakh for each block under the dispensation of BDC will be provided for the renovation of Community Sanitation Centres and 100 percent of expenditure must be ensured in order to make the centres functional around the year and 24/7. Further, all measures must be taken to make them functional such as installation of water tanks and insulation of pipes.
    During the meeting, DPO Padma Angmo while highlighting the importance of SBM Grameen said it is a vital scheme and appreciable work has been done under it.
    She also informed the PRI members about ODF Plus and gave a presentation related to various modules in order to manage solid and liquid waste.
    BDC Drass, Noor Mohammad thanked the director and concerned department on behalf of all BDCs and PRI members for rejuvenating a new spirit in RD&PRD. He also called for support in the future as well for the development in the Rural Development sector in the district.
