DC Leh discusses Action Plan under PMMSY Scheme

Leh, March 30: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse to discuss the action plan under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampadha Yojna (PMMSY) scheme and National Scheme for the Welfare of Fisherman for the year 2022-2023.
The meeting discussed the various measures for benefitting the beneficiaries in the Leh district. It also deliberated on enhancing fish production and productivity, developing ornamental and recreational fisheries, markets and marketing infrastructures.
The officials apprised the DC of the various activities and progress done by the fisheries department in the Leh district. It was informed that under the subsidy component of District Plan 2021, repair and supply of fish seeds/feed/equipment and drugs were successfully executed to the 25 units in Leh.
DC Leh emphasised on proper marketing and branding of the fishes and fisheries products of Ladakh. He further stressed tapping the tourism potential in the fisheries sector. He added that youths should be encouraged to take advantage of such schemes through the Fisheries department to get livelihood opportunities.
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Leh; Chief Planning Officer Leh; Assistant Director, Fisheries Department Leh, Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering (PHE); Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control; Chief Manager, Lead District Manager (LDM) Leh attended the meeting.
