    DC Kargil takes stock of JJM works at Pashkum area (5)

    KARGIL, NOVEMBER 14, 2021: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve on Saturday inspected the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in Pashkum area.
    The Deputy Commissioner also inspected various infrastructural development works including the construction of the administrative block of Community Health Centre (CHC) and feasibility of land for parking of vehicles, construction of eco park and fish farm at Shakar Chiktan.
    Superintending Engineer PWD Kargil Tashi Tundup, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shakar Chiktan Muhammad Sharief Kakpori, Tehsildar Shakar Chiktan Kacho Asgar Ali Khan besides other concerned officers and engineers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
    The concerned officers and engineers of PHE Department apprised the Deputy Commissioner that around 21 and 34 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) have been provided at village Farul and Lotsum respectively.
    DC Santosh Sukhadeve instructed the concerned officers to strictly adhere to quality and quantity parameters in the execution of works so that water connections can run for long in future. He also stressed for updation of data on the JJM portal on regular basis, adding he directed the concerned to ensure the open pipes are properly insulated to avoid freezing during winters.
    While underlining the importance of JJM Scheme for providing drinking water supply in adequate quantity of prescribed quality to every rural household on regular and long-term basis, DC Santosh Sukhadeve stressed officers to make concerted efforts to ensure its implementation as a top priority scheme. He also said that keeping in view the harsh climatic conditions of the region, concrete measures should be taken to make sure the water supply lines remain functional during the winter season, adding he directed the concerned officers to make sure digging is done below the frost line while also emphasizing the need to accelerate the pace of work to achieve the goal of Har Ghar Nal, Har Ghar Jal, in the stipulated timeframe which is 15th August, 2022.
    Later, the Deputy Commissioner Kargil also inspected the ongoing construction works of the 3rd floor of the Community Health Centre (CHC) Chiktan. He directed the concerned officers to speed up the pace of works in order to ensure completion of the work within the stipulated timelines.
    DC Santosh Sukhadeve also inspected the feasibility of land for the construction of fish farm, fish aquarium, eco park and parking area for vehicles at Chiktan. He assured that for the development of such projects meetings will be held with the concerned departments and the local representatives in order to properly plan and execute these projects at the ground level.
