    KARGIL, DECEMBER 01, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan said that education and communication need to be focused as priority sectors in ensuring proper development of Sharchey village.
    The CEC stated this while addressing a gathering during the inauguration of the school library at Government Middle School (GMS) Sharchey Batalik here today.
    Chief Education Officer Kargil Nazir Ahmad Wani, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Project Director KREDA Kacho Ahmad Khan, ZEPO Kargil Muhammad Kazim, National Awardee Teacher Muhammad Ali, representative of 17000 Ft Foundation Zakir Hussain Sharah, Architect and representative from Rzamba Fayaz Ali, Engineer and village representative Arif Hussain Ladakhi besides concerned officers of Education, R&B and other departments accompanied the CEC during the tour which involved clearing a trek of 3 kilometres from Chulichan.
    Feroz Ahmad Khan said that the sole purpose of the visit was to assess the educational scenario and to draft measures for the future of the school and students. He appreciated the school administration particularly Teacher Muhammad Abass and his team besides the local Village Education Committee in making efforts to ensure quality education in such a remote village with no road connectivity till date.
    Acknowledging the importance of road connectivity for the overall development of the village CEC Khan said that road connectivity to the village is a priority of the LAHDC Kargil and to achieve this goal, the Silmo Sharchey Road is targeted to be completed by the year 2022-2023.
    Responding to the demands projected by the villagers, CEC Khan said that education is our topmost priority and assured that all necessary measures will be taken to fulfil the demands in a phased manner. He further said that the construction of second storey of the school building will be proposed in next year’s plan and regarding the completion of playground, he directed the Rural Development Department to take necessary measures.
    With regard to the access of students to the school, the CEC directed the concerned department to propose a plan for a safe footpath at the earliest possibility. Underlining the need for a guest house for Special Interest Tourists (SITs) in the area, Khan directed the concerned officers to draft a proposal.
    The CEC on the occasion announced that students, teachers and the members of the Village Education Committee will be sent to Government Middle School Karith for exposure tour in near future and all expenses in this front will be borne by the LAHDC Kargil besides exposure tours outside the district will also be arranged in due course of time.
    On the occasion, National Awardee Teacher Muhammad Ali, representative 17000 Ft Foundation Zakir Hussain Sharah, Teacher GMS Sharchey Muhammad Abbas, Architect and representative Rzamba Fayaz Ali and Nambardar Muhammad Ali also addressed the gathering and shared their thoughts.
    Earlier, 2 video documentaries on the transformation of the school and Rzongi Kor Cave were screened in presence of the CEC with brief explanations by Fayaz Ali and Arif Ladakhi while the dignitaries also felicitated the students for showing extraordinary performance in academics and extra-curricular activities. Books donated by Rzamba and Padma Jain were dedicated to the school on the occasion.
