CEC Feroz Khan hails efforts for keeping Zojila Pass open for record time This is for the first time ever that Zojila Pass was kept open till January 06 CEC urges Civil Aviation Dept. Ladakh to start AN-32 Kargil Courier Service

Kargil, Jan 06, 2023:
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today appreciated the efforts of all agencies including Project VIJAYAK, Project Beacon, Ladakh Police, Traffic Police Ladakh, District Administration Kargil and Ganderbal, UT Administration Ladakh and Divisional Administration Kashmir Division for keeping strategic Zojila Pass open for a record time this year.
Last year, the Zojila Pass was kept open till Jan 03. This year once again, due to concerted efforts the Pass was open for the first time ever, till January 06.
The CEC said the people of Kargil acknowledge the efforts of BRO agencies in keeping the Zojila Pass open by regularly maintaining the pass despite the severe cold. He appreciated the coordination between Ganderbal Administration and Ladakh Police.
Talking about the challenges that were faced while keeping the pass open he expressed his satisfaction over the spirit with which the jawans and officers of Ladakh Police Traffic Police worked to facilitate the smooth passage for travellers.
He hoped that all agencies will once again come together with the same coordination to open Zojila Pass for movement when the winter wanes at the onset of the spring.
The CEC also expressed gratitude to UT Administration for the procurement of high-end snow-clearing machines which played vital role in keeping Zojila Pass open till this time.
He also that LAHDC Kargil has written to Commissioner/Secretary Civil Aviation, UT Ladakh to start AN-32 Kargil Courier Service for transportation of students, patients, elderly and other residents of Kargil district to Jammu and Srinagar cities as per past practice. He urged the Civil Aviation Department and Indian Air Force to start the service at the earliest.
