    KARGIL, SEPTEMBER, 21, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan chaired a meeting of the concerned officers regarding streamlining of traffic management in Kargil town at Council Secretariat here on Monday.
    Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary, SP Traffic Ladakh Muhammad Rafi Giri, ASP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, Councillors of Kargil Town, Poyen and Baroo Minjee Constituencies Haji Muhammad Abbas, Haji Muhammad Amin and Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi, Executive Officer MC Kargil Shafaqat Ali Khan, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kargil Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan , District Traffic Inspector Nissar Ali, SHO Manzoor Ahmad, Consultant to Ladakh Police and Road Safety Engineer Aditya Srivastava, Chairman Merchant Association Kargil Haji Muhammad Abbas besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
    During the course of the meeting, thorough discussions and deliberations were held which were aimed to mitigate the traffic regulation needs of Kargil town.
    The meeting was informed through detailed power point presentation about the proposed public transport management in Kargil town, proposed short term interventions, improvement of mobility corridors, engineering interventions on major junctions, present traffic scenario in Kargil Town and other related aspects.
    CEC Kargil Feroz Khan said that there is need to understand and frame policies for short and long term interventions regarding traffic movement in Kargil Town.
    The CEC stated that 3 immediate steps need to be taken as a part of the short term interventions which include establishment of paid parking space at Hussaini Park managed under the jurisdiction of MC Kargil, identification of spots for paid parking from Fatima Chowk to Animal Husbandry Office Balti Bazar besides other paid parking spots from Hanfia Jamiya Masjid to Fatima Chowk (Circular Road).
    CEC Khan directed that in this regard the SP Traffic Ladakh, ASP Kargil, Councillor Town, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kargil, Executive Officer MC Kargil to conduct a joint visit of Kargil Town and submit a proposal to the Deputy Commissioner Kargil. He asked the concerned officers to submit their report within 3 day’s time so that a notification could be issued in due course of time.Feroz Ahmad Khan further directed the concerned officers to streamline the blind curve near Hospital Road and improvement of MES Road to ease traffic movement and movement of commuters.
