    CEC Feroz Khan appreciates participants, calls for promotion of Mixed Martial Arts in Ladakh

    LAHDC Kargil felicitates team Ladakh for exemplary performance in MMAFI Championship (3)

    KARGIL, DECEMBER 25, 2021: Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil today felicitated Team Ladakh for showing exemplary performance in Mixed Martial Arts Federation of India (MMAFI) Championship held at Mumbai Maharashtra.

    The felicitation ceremony was held at Conference Hall Baroo where Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan was the chief guest.

    Executive Councillor Tourism Er Phunsok Tashi, Executive Councilor Works Aga Syed Abbas Razvi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, former EC and Councilor Choskore Constituency Nasir Munshi, Councilor Poyen-Akchamal Constituency Haji Mohammad Amin, Executive Engineer R&B 2nd Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan, Ward Member MC Kargil Shabbir Hussain, DYSSO Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, President Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) association Ladakh Mehdi Nasri, besides players, stakeholders of MMA, sports enthusiasts and civil society members were present in the ceremony.

    CEC Khan while appreciating MMA Coach Mehdi Nasri said that he has single-handedly been able to introduce and promote MMA in the entire Ladakh region.

    The CEC said that without any financial support, the Team Ladakh has displayed the best sporting skills in MMAFI Championship and brought laurels to Kargil and whole Ladakh region.

    He said LAHDC Kargil will support the endeavours of the MMA association Ladakh and in this regard from next year provisions will be made under the subsidy component for financial assistance and infrastructural assistance and possibilities will be explored.

    Hailing their efforts for making the region proud, CEC Khan further assured to felicitate MMA Team Ladakh on the occasion of 26 January celebrations.

    On the occasion, DC Santosh Sukhadeve acknowledged the importance of Sports Development Assistance and said that LAHDC Kargil and District Administration will extend possible financial support and regarding infrastructural facilities provision for space will be kept in Mini-Multi Purpose Stadium when it is completed.

    The Deputy Commissioner said that the promotion and development of this game is very necessary and by the efforts of MMA Ladakh it will be possibly achieved.

    Councilor Poyen-Akchamal Constituency Haji Mohammad Amin said that it is not just an achievement for his constituency but for the whole Ladakh. He announced a cash prize of Rs 20,000 for the MMA Team Ladakh as a token of appreciation.

    General Secretary MMA Association Ladakh Syed Raza Mousvi expressed gratitude to LAHDC Kargil for the honor and suggested financial and logistic support in the future. He also requested that MMA sport should get due recognition at the earliest.

    Later, the winning and participating players were felicitated with Traditional Khataks and mementos by the dignitaries.

    Notably, during the MAAFI Championship held at Mumbai, Team Ladakh bagged a Gold Medal by Murtaza Ali Khuddam, one Silver by Hasnain, one Silver by Coach Mehdi Nasri and one Bronze by Akbar Ali.

    Meanwhile, 16 teams across India participated in the Championship in which team Ladakh was led by Coach and President MMA Association Ladakh Mehdi Nasri, General Secretary of the association Syed Reza Mousvi. Executive Councilor Works Aga Abbas Razvi was the chief guest on the occasion in Mumbai.
