About Us

Introduction:

Department of Youth Services & Sports came into beingexistence in the year 1976 to implement the Physical Education programmes in schools, side by side with General Education.

The Department over the period of time brought under its purview a wide spectrum ofactivities like organizing Domestic & National level sports competitions for school Children and sending them to participate in National and State level sports tournaments representing UT Ladakh.

Aims & Objectives

To conduct Physical Education activities like Mass Physical Display, promoting adventure sports, promoting talents in school children including extracurricular activities like dance & drama, organizing Youth and Cultural Festivals across the State, UT and outside.
Promoting Scouts & Guides activities besides providing opportunities to school children for participation and to excel in various sports activities.
The Department also caters to the personality development aspect of school children through Physical Education Teachers, Masters, and Lecturers posted in different schools functioning under District Officers at District Level and recently created Zonal Physical Education Officers at Zonal Level, besides encouraging the youth in various social activities at the UT, State and National level.

Role and Responsibilities

To ensure the implantation of Physical Education programmes at school level and providing staff viz Physical Education Lecturers, Physical Education Masters, Physical Education Teachers & Reh bar e Khels.
To provide Games and Sports equipment’s to all the schools in the district annually.
To ensure annually conduct of activities at Block level & District level.
To raise and depute teams for State/ National level tournaments and other activities in representing UT Ladakh in respect of students Youth both Boys & Girls.
To assist Sports Associations. Clubs to organize activities in different games in respect of non-students Youths to represent Youths of Ladakh at State and National level activities.

Citizen Charter

Citizen Charter Grievances redressal System. Citizen facilitation Centers etc.

The Department has established a separate cell in the office at Headquarter and at BlockHeadquarter to dealwith citizen grievanceswith department address, phone and Mobile and email ids to redress the grievances of citizens. Sofar, no any grievances have been received.

Schemes

Schemes of the Department for taking benefit of Various Schemes.

The Department is organizing the different sports activities for the youth under the banners of Khelo India Scheme, to encourage them and to take mor and more interest in the field of Games and sports.
The Department is providing incentives to the position holders under the subsidy scheme.
The Department is also providing the sports equipment’s to the players under the subsidy scheme.
While organizing different activities every school children are providing opportunities to participate in the activities to express their talents.
Assist them in raising standard teams for State/ National level activities to represent UT Ladakh.
