    Women achievers from Leh meet Powergrid’s female engineers Function held as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate women empowerment

    Leh, Sept. 15: Women achievers from Leh met Women Executives of Powergrid today in a function organised by the Northern Region- II of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) in coordination with the Social Welfare Department of UT Ladakh. The function organised under the banner of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrated women empowerment. Girl students of EJM College Leh were invited to interact with the speakers.
    Secretary, Hr. Edu. & Social Welfare, Ladakh, Padma Angmo, who was the Chief Guest welcomed the delegation from Powergrid to Ladakh and said it was heartening to see the women in the engineering field which a decade ago was considered a male bastion. She hailed the invited women achievers from Leh and said that Ladakh had a long list of women achievers, not confined to career women, who are an inspiration not only to girls but also to boys of Ladakh.
    The function was organised on the theme ‘MY STORY’ by women executives of POWERGRID and women achievers of Ladakh. Eminent guests from Leh included Dr. Tsering Lhadol (retd) the first Gynaecologist of Ladakh, a Padmashri and Padma Bhushan awardee; Dr. Tsering Dolma (retd.) first woman Chief Medical Officer of Ladakh; Nilza Wangmo (Entrepreneur and founder of Alchi Kitchen), Rinchen Dolma (the young Indian Woman Ice Hockey Team Captain).
    The women addressed the students and inspired them with the stories of their struggles and achievements. Several women from POWERGRID including Pratyaksha, Senior GM Fin, NR-II & Nyla, Engineer presented their stories.
    Earlier, women executives of POWERGRID visited Eliezer Jolden Memorial (EJM) College for interaction with the students and illustrated their learnings regarding breaking the barriers and achieving their dreams. The students were also taken to 220/66kV GIS Phyang Sub-station of POWERGRID for an educational tour.
    The program was concluded with Q&A session where students of EJM college interacted with the women achievers of Leh and POWERGRID.
