    Week-long Ethical & Educational Exchange Programme concluded at Thiksey

    Leh, Aug 31: Shesrap Skyadtsal Ling Library and Learning Centre under the guidance of His Eminence, Thiksey Khanpo Rinpoche, organised a week-long workshop on ‘Ethical & Educational Exchange Programme’ started on 25th August and concluded today at Thiksey. The workshop was attended by students from the monastic schools of Shachukul Monastery, Diskit Monastery and Thiksey Monastery.
    H.E Thiksey Khanpo Rinpoche, Nawang Jamyang Chamba Stanzin presided over the closing ceremony as the chief guest and the Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson along with Former MP/President LBA, Thupstan Chhewang and President LGA, Ven Shadup Chamba were the guest of honour.
    The closing day programme started with initiation prayers followed by student performances on dialectics, speeches, short skits and art exhibitions. Through their performances, monk student participants showcase their talents and also extended their gratitude to the organisers for conducting a productive and session full of learning during the workshop.
    Addressing the gathering, H.E Thiksey Khanpo Rinpoche congratulated all the participants and urged them to practice all the learnings from the workshop in their day to day lives. He highlighted the need for such interactive workshops among all sections and communities of society in this 21st-century era. He informed the gathering that the objective behind establishing Shesrap Skyadtsal Ling Library and Learning Centre at Thiksey is to provide opportunities as well as platforms for all kinds of socio-religious and activities related to secular ethics. He added that the centre also aims to provide an open learning space for students and researchers across communities of Ladakh.
    Speaking on the occasion, CEC Tashi Gyalson appreciated the activities performed by the students of monastic schools of Shachukul, Diskit and Thiksey Monastery during the event. He stated that the performances from the students during the closing event reflects the quality of educational learnings that the students received on language, aesthetics, yoga and art from the masters and experts during the workshop. He added that such workshops on promoting and practising secular ethics are need of the hour in this modern-day Ladakh. He appreciated the organisers led by H.E Thiksey Khanpo Rinpoche for conducting such workshops at school levels and assured all possible assistance from the Hill Council in the future for organising such programmes at broader levels.
    Similarly President LBA, Thupstan Chhewang also shared his thoughts on the week-long student exchange programme and highlighted that such workshops communicate socio-religious traditions through the various modes of communication among the students and there are many takeaways from the workshops for the students in their monastic traditions and curriculum. He also extended his gratitude to the organisers of Shesrap Skyadtsal Ling Library and Learning Centre, Thiksey for conducting such innovative exchange programmes for the students of monastic schools.
    All the collaborators and experts were felicitated during the closing day event by the Chief guest and the guest of honour.
