UT Ladakh Administration frames ‘Ladakh Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2021’; Suggestions and feedback invited from public

Leh, December 12: The administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has come up with draft of ‘Ladakh Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules’ . Drafted by the Social & Tribal Welfare Department, the draft of the Rules is placed in public domain at https://ladakh.gov.in/document-category/government-orders/ for feedback. The objections and suggestions which may be received before the expiry of the 30 days period, will be considered by the Administration of Union territory of Ladakh.
The draft Rules have been framed in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 101 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016).
The draft rules provide for constitution of a Committee for Research on Disability, UT level Advisory Body, District level Committee on disability, UT Fund for Persons with Disabilities and a Governing Body to manage the fund besides appointment of Commissioner for Disability and a Public Prosecutor as mandated by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare, Ladakh, Padma Angmo had announced on December 3, the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, that the UT Ladakh is ready with the draft of the ‘Ladakh Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules’ and will be sharing it on a public domain for comments and suggestions from the people
