University of Ladakh and Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS) jointly celebrated G20 awareness program on environmental and socio-economical issues of Ladakh region.

Leh, March 28: University of Ladakh and Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS) jointly celebrated G20 awareness program on environmental and socio-economical issues of Ladakh region.
Department of Zoology, Dept. of Mathematics and Dept. of Forensic Science jointly arranged this program. Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok K Sharma and Assistant Registrar, Nawang Tundup of the University of Ladakh graced the occasion with their presence.
While addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok K Sharma encouraged and emphasized the students for adoption of innovative skills in their routine activities in order to protect and preserve the fragile environment of Ladakh. He added that it is important to save water in the midst of the tourism season in the region. He also urged the students to create awareness among the tourists to save water and to dispose the garbage properly in the region.
A quiz competition was also organised in which eight teams participated from different schools of Leh city including Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Leh, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Leh, Kendra Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
K.V team secured the first position while the second position was secured by J.N.V Leh and the third position was secured by Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Leh.
This was followed by a speech competition on a topic of their choice within the given themes. Sonam Ladol of UOL, Bhuvi Pandita of K.V Leh and Liyaquat Ali of UOL secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Also, a photography exhibition cum competition was organised where students of the University of Ladakh ,Padma Angmo, Stanzin Youtan & Mudasir Ahmed Mir secured 1, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively.

The program ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Amjad Hussain, Dept. of Zoology, University of Ladakh.

Dr. Mohd Hussain, convener of the program, Dr. Sharanjeet Dhawan, Co-convener, and the other organizing members including Dr. Amjad Hussain, Dr. Stanzin Angmo, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Rather, Tundup Namgyal and Dr. Qutsia Tabasum, University of Ladakh were present.
