Tourism Department Kargil distributes tentage camping equipment to beneficiaries

KARGIL, MAY 19, 2022: Tourism Department Kargil today distributed tentage camping equipment to beneficiaries under the subsidy component of LAHDC, Kargil here at Indra Gandhi Park, Baroo.
Executive Councillor Tourism, Er Phunsuk Tashi, Executive Councillor Aga Syed Hassan Armaan, Executive Councillor Aga Syed Abass Rizvi, Executive Councillor Mohsin Ali, DTO Kargil Iftikhar Hussain, AD Tourism Aga Syed Toha, councillors and beneficiaries were present on the occasion.
The Tourism Department distributed tentage camping equipment to eight beneficiaries under the subsidy component procured at a cost of Rs 7.34 lakhs at a subsidy of 75 percent to the beneficiaries which is Rs 1.83 lakhs payable by the beneficiaries.
Each set of the equipment includes five two men luxury tent with attached washroom, one kitchen and one dining/leaving tent with camping foldable chairs and tables.
Speaking on the occasion, EC Tashi instructed the beneficiaries to install the equipment at appropriate tourist places within 10 days.
He further instructed the concerned officers to check the camps after installation and said that if the equipment is not used judiciously, it will be taken back with fine.
EC Tashi further said LAHDC is committed to promoting tourism in Kargil adding that the administration has aimed to erect 250 homestay facilities in the district.
He further urged other councillors to procure at least one set of tentage camping equipment each in order to further boost tourism in the district.
