    Three-day workshop on play wright & play production concludes

    Leh, May 19: The three-day play wright and play production workshop conducted by the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Leh, in collaboration with the Department of School Education, Ladakh, concluded at Lotsava Auditorium Hall today.
    The objective of the workshop is to develop the body, speech and mind of the students using Theatre in Education (TiE) as a mode of education and implement it in the education of system.
    Padma Shri awardee Morup Namgail talked and shared tips about scriptwriting and playwriting, whereas theatre personality Sonam Stobgais, a graduate from the National School of Drama (NSD), spoke on play production on the third day of the event.
    Actor, Phonsok Ladakhi gave an expert talk on play production and acting.
    Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar awardee Mipham Otsal was also one of the resource persons who gave training on theatre and story making to the participants.
    The selected school would participate in the Children Theatre Festival to be held in July later this year.
    Chief Education Officer, Leh, SD Namgail and Deputy Secretary, LAACL Leh, Tsewang Paljor spoke during the closing session and stressed the need to adopt innovative techniques such as using theatre and plays as a medium to provide education to the students.
    Special Officer for Cultural Activities, LAACL, Leh Lundup Dorjai gave the vote of thanks.
    An interactive session was held at the end of the workshop.
    Theatre artists and two teachers each from different schools of Leh, namely Govt High School, Sakti; Govt High School, Thiksey; Govt High School, Housing Colony; Govt High School, Chumathang; Govt Higher Secondary School, Chuchot Shamma; Govt Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh; Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh; Ladakh Public School; Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School; Druk Padma School; Islamia Public School and Mahabodhi Residential School took part in the three-day training.
    Members from Ladakh Theatre Organisation were also present during the workshop.
