Nubra, August 14: Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare, Padma Angmo reviewed the functioning of Anganwadi Centres in the Nubra Sub-Division during her two-day tour on August 13 & 14.
Anganwadi Workers of the Centres in Khardong requested for provision of heating facilities for the Centre during winters. Secretary assured that provisions will be made for the same. She directed the CDPO, Nubra to put up the proposal for construction of toilets in AWCs where there were no separate toilets and children were sharing toilets with School students.
She was received at Diskit by SDM Lakshya Singh, IAS on August 13. Secretary discussed the renovation of the Anganwadi Centre in Diskit with the SDM and the provision of regular supply of electricity in AWCs so that the children can be shown educational cartoon series on television.
On August 14, during her visit to Bogdang, Padma Angmo interacted with the Sarpanch and Goba to discuss the involvement of the community in the maintenance of the Anganwadi Centre. She asked the Panchayat to give adequate space to the Anganwadi Centre in view of the large number of eligible children in the village. The villagers also placed the request for the renovation of the Primary School buildings and construction of boundary walls for the schools. She discussed possible skill development opportunities for the women of Bogdang.
Secretary made similar observations in Turtuk where the number of children enrolled in Anganwadi centres is high and more space is required to house the AWCs. She directed the Anganwadi workers in Turtuk to discuss with the panchayat for making space for store and kitchen available in the same premise as the Anganwadi centre.
She was accompanied by CDPO Nubra, Tsering Youtol, OSD Dr Jigmet Dachen and other functionaries of ICDS.
