    KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 07, 2021: Secretary Tourism, Culture, Labour and Employment Mehboob Ali Khan chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the proposed Ladakh Zanskar Festival, events of Iconic Week celebrations and Employment Mela under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Tourist Facilitation Centre Biamathang here on Monday.
    Secretary Sports Ravinder Kumar and Deputy Director Employment Leh Delex Namgyal attended the meeting virtually while Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, officers of Labour, Employment, Culture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture, representatives of various banks besides other concerned district officers were present in the meeting at Kargil.
    The Secretary took stock of the arrangements for accommodation of guests and dignitaries attending the festival, transportation and other requisite arrangements for participants, artists, cultural troops, and other necessary arrangements for the Zanskar Festival which is expected to be held on 15th to 16th September, 2021 at Padum.
    For conduct of various events of Iconic Week under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Secretary instructed concerned departments to design various events including cultural programmes, polo matches at Drass and tourism promotion activities.
    The Secretary informed that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘Iconic Week’ for UT of Ladakh is proposed in the week falling 31st October, 2021 and Polo matches at Drass under the proposed LG’s Cup would be held in the last week of September to 2nd October, 2021.
    Meanwhile, Secretary Sports Ravinder Kumar instructed the Deputy Commissioner Kargil to conduct a meeting in this regard to finalize the necessary arrangements. He further informed that around 15 teams from all over Ladakh are expected to join the horse polo event.
    Taking stock of the arrangements to be made for the conduct of Rozgar Mela in Leh and Kargil districts, Secretary Mehboob Ali Khan instructed the concerned officers of Labour and Employment departments and bank representatives to provide model DPRs besides details of entrepreneurship schemes available in Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry and allied departments and submit the same to the concerned Deputy Commissioners within a week’s time.
    Secretary Mehboob Ali Khan said that stalls for enhancement of entrepreneurship, and awareness of various schemes in different departments will be held at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Kargil as part of the Rozgar Mela where all departments shall participate. He also suggested for conducting a career counselling programme for the youth regarding various competitive exams like UPSC, Bank Probationary Officers’ examination and various other examinations at the Auditorium Hall Kargil during the employment fair.
    Meanwhile, the Secretary informed that the website of Employment Department Ladakh is under process and once it is ready the registration process for unemployed youth will become hassle free.
    The Secretary also stressed on the need to conduct awareness programmes about different government schemes, adding he also suggested for conducting weekly programmes of such nature from All India Radio besides bringing out quarterly booklets and wide publicity through social media so that maximum number of unemployed youth get benefitted from the welfare schemes.
