    Secretary, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan takes stock of tourism infrastructure development work at Wakha, Bodh Kharboo, Heniskot Directs officers to improve infrastructure of existing tourist bungalows at important locations along highways in Kargil district

    KARGIL, MAY 04, 2022: Secretary, Tourism, Culture, Labour, Employment, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan today took stock of various ongoing tourism-related developmental works at Wakha, Bodh Kharboo and Heniskot areas in Kargil.
    The Secretary was accompanied by Executive Engineer (Tourism Authority Kargil), Abdul Mutalib; Assistant Director, Tourism, Aga Syed Toha; Officers of KDA and Tourism departments.
    The Secretary was informed that the work at tourist bungalow, Mulbekh, being executed by M& W wing of the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, J & K, will resume soon. However, the issue of all projects under execution of J&K UT agencies are required to be resolved for timely completion of these projects with the concerned authorities of J & K UT.
    The Secretary also directed the concerned officers to coordinate with the concerned officers for uninterrupted water supply preferably through JJM and make all assets winter friendly.
    The Secretary inspected the construction site of cafeteria cum public convenience at Wado, Wakha and directed the concerned officers to finish the remaining work at the earliest and also complete the process of outsourcing of the wayside amenity through e-tender in a transparent manner.
    At Bodh Kharboo, the Secretary visited the site of the under-construction work of the statute of Guru Dulchat (being raised by the residents of Bodh Kharboo), which is almost 72 feet high. He appreciated the concept and quality of work. The Secretary stated that the tourism department will consider creating facilities for tourists at the statue site.
    At cafeteria-cum-public-convenience site, Bodh Kharboo, the Secretary directed the concerned officers to complete the remaining work including the approach road and other miscellaneous works within a week’s time and make the facility functional for tourists. The Secretary also directed the concerned officers to complete the process of outsourcing through e-tendering in a transparent manner.
    The Secretary also met a delegation of locals at Wado-Wakha, Kundik (Mundik), Heniskot and Bodh Kharboo villages and gave a patient hearing to their demands and assured them of appropriate follow up actions at the earliest.
    The demands included construction of a mini sports stadium at Wakha, footpath / public amenities at Jamia Masjid Wakha, listing of Wakha Khar as a heritage site, restoration of heritage cave and Gompa at Kundik (Mundik), proper drinking water supply to lower Heniskot village etc.
