SDM Shakar Chiktan inaugurates 1st BDC Ice Hockey Cup at Samrah

KARGIL, JANUARY 19, 2022: Incharge Sub Divisional Magistrate Shakar Chiktan, Kacho Asgar Ali Khan today inaugurated the 1st BDC Cup Inter Panchayats (Rolling Trophy) Sub Junior (under 16) Ice Hockey Tournament at Samrah Chiktan.
Chairperson, Block Development Council (BDC), Shakar Chiktan, Syeeda Banoo, PRI members, ice hockey players and local residents were present during the inaugural ceremony.
The tournament was organized by Panchayat Halqa Samrah in collaboration with Kargil Ice and Snow Sports Club, United Samrah Club and Shakar Chiktan Winter Games Association.
The inaugural match was played between Bodh Kharboo and Chiktan which was won by Chiktan by four goals. A total of eight teams participated in the tournament.
The SDM appreciated the organizing committee for conducting such winter games and expressed gratitude to the BDC for allocating funds for the same.
BDC said she is committed to promoting winter games in the sub-division and assured that Rs 5 lakhs has been allocated for next year for organizing the tournament.
Bano also expressed gratitude to the organizing committee and the volunteers for providing Jersey for the ice hockey players.
She also assured to provide fog light to all the ice hockey rinks of Shakar Chiktan adding that the tournament is being organized as senior, junior and girls sections from next year.
Sarpanch Samrah, Muhammad Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion and expressed gratitude to the organizing committee and the BDC for tournaments.
