    SDM Shakar Chiktan assesses damages caused due to flash flood

    KARGIL, JULY 25, 2022: A team of officers, officials of Shakar Chiktan headed by SDM Mohd Sharif and other officers including AEE, R&B, AEE, PMGSY, Revenue, PHE, I&FC and PDD today visited the cloudburst sites at five gorges in Shakar village to assess damages due to flash flood.
    The cloudburst was reported on the night of July 24 2022 at about 11 p.m. which caused flash floods.
    The team of officers observed that the road of Yokma Kharboo to Shakar was blocked at few gorges. The same has been removed while the vehicular movement has been restored.
    It was informed that some structures were damaged. Two flood-affected families were directed to shift in the guest house of Shakar.
    The SDM directed the Lambardar to collect belongings etc. from the SDM office while utensils etc. will be provided by the administration as per SDRF norms.
    The main road at Shakar has been blocked at many places within 2 to 3 km stretch while the PMGSY is on job to restore the same and hopefully it would be connected by tomorrow.
    It was informed that the agricultural land has also come under debris while the revenue staff has noted all the damages to the crop.
    The PHE department has been directed to restore the water source for Chumuk Chan Mohalla populace on priority, which was also damaged due to cover of main water reservoir.
    AE PDD has been directed to strengthen the electric lines at one place.
    I&FC Department has been directed to remove debris from Mohalla Hadika and restore the Nallah which is currently completely covered by boulders.
    Ration may be provided to the families, whose houses have been fully damaged by the flood, after approval from Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil.
    The final report shall be submitted after joint verification by the SDRF team constituted by the District Administration in this regard.
