Royal Enfield CSR Initiative to promote Responsible Travel & Tourism in Ladakh

Leh, August 07: Secretary Tourism, Mehoob Ali Khan along with Director Tourism, RTO, ARTO, BDO, President Ladakh Taxi Tourism; distributed kits/ garbage bags to taxi drivers as part of sustainable cleanliness drive in association with Royal Enfield. Its a Royal Enfield CSR Initiative to promote Responsible Travel & Tourism in Ladakh. The event was held at Tsangda Waste Management Center Choglamsar, Leh Ladakh.

Secy, Tourism addressed the gathering and stated that to promote eco-friendly tourism and to tackle the pollution issues etc apart from government programme and initiatives,people should own the cleanliness drive and make it a successful program by their participation. He stresses upon enhancing awareness. Tourists should also be educated about waste management. He further stresses upon to create awareness with the help of NGOs as the government won’t be able to do it alone. Further he added that it is time for people to become responsible citizens, and thanked Royal Enfield for their contribution.

RTO, BDO, President Ladakh Taxi Union, also addressed the gathering by highlighting that everything is interrelated, as in how segregation of waste management is directly or indirectly linked with the cleanliness of the environment and tourism vise-versa. Hence it is very important to follow the rules and segregate the waste and be a part of sustainable cleanliness drive.

Royal Enfield as part of its Social Mission initiative plans to train 3000 odd taxi drivers in the times to come towards Responsible Travel
