    RD&PRD holds awareness-cum-cleanliness program on Solid Waste Management in Kargil (1)

    KARGIL, MAY 19, 2022: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department (RD&PRD) UT Ladakh today organized one-day awareness-cum-cleanliness program on Solid Waste Management at Tumail Coloney, Barchey Coloney and TV Station in Kargil.
    Director RD&PRD Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil, Ghulam Muhammad, District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Padma Angmo, BDC Sodh Zakir Hussain, BDO Pashkum, BDO Sodh Block, ASI Ali, Sarpanch Pashkum-B Issa Ali, Sarpanch Tumail besides other concerned officials of police and other departments were present on the occasion
    The Director while speaking on the occasion said cleanliness is the responsibility of all stakeholders and under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen 2nd phase, the department is trying to ensure proper cleanliness and least usage of plastic.
    While informing about the activities of the department, he said efforts are being made for effective solid and liquid waste management.
    Director RD&PRD stressed that people should lead the movement of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and be an example for others in proper management of solid waste.
    On the occasion, the ACD said that community participation is a must for the successful implantation Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen Phase 2nd and for maintaining cleanliness.
    The ACD said the participants of the program would be appreciated and should spread the message of cleanliness to other people.
    District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Padma Angmo gave participants awareness about solid waste management and appealed people to maintain cleanliness around their surroundings. She also informed the public about various interventions in achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen Phase 2nd.
    On the directions of ADC, Municipal Committee provided waste pick up vehicle.
    The awareness program was followed by a cleanliness drive which was participated by all.
    On the occasion, BDC Sodh Zakir Hussain also appealed the people to maintain cleanliness at all levels and ensure that waste is not thrown openly.
    Sarpanch Pashkum-B and Sarpanch Tumail also appealed people to cooperate with Panchayats in maintaining cleanliness and in implementing of solid waste management.
    Awareness programs have been started in the district for effective solid waste management and to aware people about the importance of clean and green environment.
