    KARGIL, AUGUST 10, 2021: Principal Secretary Health Ladakh Dr Pawan Kotwal visited District Hospital Kargil and Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Kurbathang here today.
    The Principal Secretary was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan, Chief Medical Officer Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir besides other concerned officers and doctors.
    At the District Hospital, the Principal Secretary inspected the Geriatric Ward, Dialysis Unit, MRC Ward, SNCU, Jan Aushadhi Kendra besides other units of the health institute. He interacted with the patients and attendants and inquired from them about the facilities being extended to them at the hospital.
    At Jan Aushadhi Kendra, the Principal Secretary instructed the concerned medical officers to create awareness among the public to purchase medicines from the kendra where quality medicines are available at cheaper rates.
    Dr Kotwal also chaired a meeting with the doctors and paramedical staff. The Doctors Association submitted a memorandum to the Secretary highlighting various issues and demands.
    The demands of the doctors included implementation of Central Health Scheme, risk allowance to all doctors, promotion of Consultants, Medical Officers and Dental Surgeons, time bound promotion of doctors, reorientation and refresher courses for doctors, single line seniority of all doctors, lateral induction of MS/MD/Diploma holder doctors, incentives to doctors working at District Hospital Kargil on pattern of other medical centres, incentives to dental surgeons, and creation of Consultant Dermatologist post at District Hospital Kargil.
    The Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the demands of doctors and paramedical staff and assured them to consider the issues for suitable follow up and also discussed solutions for the issues. He directed the doctors to visit premier medical institutes like AIIMS and SKIMS from time to time to get themselves equipped with the latest techniques and developments in the field.
    Later, Dr Kotwal also visited the Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital at Kurbathang and inspected all units of the health centre. The Executive Engineer R&B-II gave a detailed presentation on the plan of newly proposed medical college.
    The Principal Secretary took stock of various facilities, ICU beds, oxygen and water supply, lift elevator, other requisite facilities, and feasibility of the COVID-19 hospital complex during the winter season.
    While suggesting further improvements in terms of the finishing of walls, windows and floors of the hospital Dr Kotwal instructed that the consultancy firm must have an office at the site to monitor and check the developments being made in the construction process.
