    NCM Member Rinchen Lhamo concludes Nubra tours Graced the concluding ceremony of 4th Nubra Womens’ Ice Climbing Workshop

    Leh, March 13: The 4th Nubra Womens’ Ice Climbing workshop concluded on the auspicious birthday celebration of Galwang Dukpa and Thuksey Rinpoche organised by the Zhanga Spawo Tsogspa, Ayee on March 12. Member of National Commission for Minorities, GoI, Rinchen Lhamo was the chief guest while the Nominated Councillor Dr Yangchen Dolma was the guest of honour of the concluding ceremony.
    Councillor Panamik, Head lama of Gonbo Gonpa, Chairperson, Block Development Council, Panamik, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, Heads of various Departments of Nubra and public were also present.
    Rinchen Lhamo appreciated the organiser for organising such a workshop and lauded the overwhelming participation of women participants. She urged women to participate in every field so that the women of Ladakh could be an example for the rest of the country. Further, she shared about the numerous scholarships and welfare schemes of GoI specifically for the minorities and appealed to avail the benefits of such welfare schemes.
    Nominated Councillor, Dr Yangchen Dolma appreciated the participation of women in such adventurous sports. Stressing the dismal presence of women in politics in Ladakh, Dr Yangchen Dolma added that women should enter politics and be encouraged to be politically active.
    Panamik Councillor Rigzin Sangdup presented the vote of thanks.
    The villagers of Ayee presented a cultural performance.
    The workshop concluded with the distribution of prizes among the winners and the participants.
    Similarly, today on the last day of the Nubra tour, NCM Member Rinchen Lhamo visited the under-construction Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) hostel at Sumoor village. Nominated Councillor Dr Yangchen Dolma accompanied her.
    NCM Member Rinchen Lhamo directed the concerned officers to complete the pending work of the hostel to ensure its functionality at the earliest.
    Later, Rinchen Lhamo also met with the villagers of Khalsar village and the members of the Camel Association Nubra. She gave a patient hearing to their grievances and assured to redress them.
