    MP Ladakh conducts surprise visit of GMDC Zanskar Inspects status of academic activities, infrastructure

    KARGIL, AUGUST 25, 2O21: Member Parliament (MP) Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal conducted a surprise visit of Government Model Degee College (GMDC) Zanskar here on Tuesday.
    During the course of the visit, the MP Ladakh took stock of the academic activities as well as the ongoing construction works in the college campus.
    Principal GMDC Zanskar Nasir Shabani apprised the MP Ladakh about various development works under progress in the college campus. He informed that 6 new projects will start during the current financial year out of which 4 projects viz; 50 bedded separate hostels for boys and girls, science laboratory block and indoor stadium cum multipurpose hall have been approved under SDP, gazetted staff quarters under state capex and non-gazetted staff quarters under district capex, adding he said that all these projects will be passive solar and conducive to the climatic conditions of Zanskar.
    The MP Ladakh also inspected the existing infrastructure in the college like academic and administrative block. He also inspected the newly established makeshift laboratory and appreciated the quality equipment available there.
    MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal also inspected all the procured materials for gymnasium, computer lab, sports equipment and furniture under various schemes including RUSA, state capex and district capex. He also interacted with students and exhorted upon them to take full benefit of the facilities available in the college, and assured that all possible support will be extended to the college administration in the interest of the students.
    The MP Ladakh stated that such facilities are rarely available in other colleges and the students should consider themselves fortunate. He also assured to arrange various exposure tours for the students through different agencies.
