    MP JTN calls on Power Minister to appraise power issues of Ladakh Extends gratitude to Centre for sanctioning intra-state transmission lines to connect Zanskar, Nubra with the national power grid

    Leh, Aug 3: Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, called on Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K Singh, in New Delhi and discussed various issues related to power and renewable energy of Ladakh.
    MP Ladakh expressed gratitude to the Centre for approving the Rs. 1,309.71 crore worth project to develop intra-state transmission lines to connect Ladakh’s remote villages in the Nubra and Zanskar valley with the national power grid. MP Ladakh expressed hope that the transmission lines would bring clean electricity to Ladakh’s villages and the defence establishments that remain cut off from other parts of the country in the winter.
    Ladakh MP requested the Power & NRE Minister to complete the projects at the earliest to bring power to these remote areas. He also suggested the Minister to perform a foundation stone laying Ceremony at Padum in Zanskar and Diskit in Nubra this summer.
    They discussed issues related to the release of balance funds for the micro-hydel power projects under the LREI scheme. He submitted a list of issues of Ladakh Power Development and RE Department, including MHP of Raru 1.5 MW and Zungkul 2.0 MW projects in Zanskar, projects under implementation by Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA), Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA) and rooftop solar power plants by KREDA.
    MP Ladakh also requested the Minister to sanction the special renewable energy scheme for Ladakh for solar water heaters, solar water lifting pumps, SPV plants in off-grid areas and replacement of DG sets to achieve carbon neutrality in Ladakh.
    He also discussed the 50 MWP solar plant at Leh under implementation by SECI, exploring geothermal energy at Puga, developing solar cities in Leh and Kargil under the National Solar Mission.
