    Member National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Anjana Panwar reviews issues related to Safai Karamcharis in Kargil

    KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 29, 2021: Member National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India Anjana Panwar chaired a meeting to review issues related to Safai Karamcharis in district Kargil at Conference Hall Baroo here today.
    Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil (ADC) Kargil Tsering Motup, Additional Superintendent of Police Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, Chief Medical Officer Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Hadi, Assistant Labour Commissioner Raziya Khatoon, District Social Welfare Officer Aga Syed Jamal, Assistant Director Tourism Aga Syed Toha, Executive Officer MC Kargil Shafaqat Ali Khan, District Social Welfare Officer Leh Tashi Chorol, Incharge Chief Education Officer, ward members of Municipal Committee Kargil and sanitation workers attended the meeting.
    Member National Commission for Safal Karamcharis Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Anjana Panwar enquired from the concerned officers about various facilities, issues, grievances, and welfare schemes for the sweepers.
    She maintained that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the sanitation workers are the front-line contributors in making this mission a successful one and stated that unless their grievances and issues are resolved progress could be hardly made in this mission. She instructed the concerned officers to work seriously to resolve the issues of the workers, adding she instructed to initiate the recruitment process for sanitation workers in consultation with the concerned authorities at the UT level.
    Panwar further instructed the officials of Health department and MC Kargil to conduct health camps for medical check up of the workers and urged to include their families also. She stressed that the check up should be a comprehensive one to check the whole body against any potential disease.
    Member National Commission for Safai Karamcharis also instructed the concerned officers to prepare DPR and submit proposal for construction of residential quarters for the sweepers that shall be two bedrooms set for each worker to ensure that their whole family is accommodated.
    On retirement of the sweepers, she urged the officers to give them warm send off with proper farewell events and assured that she will take the minimum wages issue of the workers with higher authorities.
    Panwar further enquired about the status of sanitation workers in Police Department, number of police stations, police posts and number of sanitations workers there. She also enquired the concerned officer regarding various schemes for poor and working in the Social Welfare department also.
    Anjana Panwar instructed the officers to ensure proper care of the sanitation workers and sweepers in terms of their stay, uniform, food, medical check-up, insurance, and studies of their wards.
    On the very onset of the meeting, Executive Officer MC Kargil Shafaqat Ali Khan briefed the chair about strength of sanitation workers, staff of the MC, facilities being provided to sanitation workers and various issues being faced by them. He mentioned about Janata Insurance, EPF for sweepers, availability of residential quarters, minimum wages, medical check-up, and training for the workers and other related aspects.
