    Ladakh to launch ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ amid fanfare

    Leh, March 10: Ladakh is all set to launch ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ amid fanfare to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence on March 12. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, would launch the nation-wide celebrations at Dandi, Gujarat, where Mahatma Gandhi launched the Dandi March or Salt Satyagraha on March 12, 1930.

    Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, will flag-off 75 cyclists during the Freedom Cycle Rally from Polo Ground, Leh. Simultaneously, a freedom run would be flagged-off from Kargil to commemorate the day. Around 7,500 saplings would be planted during the Plantation drive carried out in various blocks through BDOs and Ladakh Police, Ladakh Scouts, Animal Husbandry Department, Army, Horticulture Department and Forest Department.

    Activities, including painting and essay competition at schools, symposiums at colleges and pledge-taking ceremony, would be held across Ladakh to launch 75 weeks of celebrations till August 15, 2022.

    Activities would be held every week across the country for the next 75 weeks to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence. The five pillars for the celebration would be – the Freedom Struggle, Ideas at 75, Achievements at 75, Actions at 75 and Resolve at 75.

    The objective of the Mahotsav is to bring the contribution of every section of society to the fore.
