    KVK Kargil celebrates National Girl Child Day via video conferencing

    KARGIL JANUARY 24, 2021: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil-1 today celebrated National Girl Child Day 2022 as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, through video conferencing in view of the Covid-19 situation which was attended by more than 50 participants from various age groups.

    During the program, Nazir Hussain, agronomist, in his welcome speech elaborated on the importance of the National Girl Child Day, the rights of women in society, and its existence.

    Advocate Zarina Zainab, a member of the Juvenile Justice Board of Kargil district delivered a guest lecture on this important day and highlighted the role of awareness.

    She emphasized on spread awareness among people about inequalities faced by girls and promoting awareness about the rights of girl children. Zainab also spoke about increased awareness of the importance of female education, health, and nutrition.

    The National Girl Child Day was first initiated in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The main objective of the day is to raise awareness and tackle the issues of inequalities that girls face in the country and enlighten everyone about the rights of a girl child.

    Dr Nasreen, scientist plant pathology, thanked all the participants for attending the program and also highlighted the importance of the day.

    She also talked about the importance of knowing agriculture techniques and further emphasized on adoption of agriculture as a scope for entrepreneurship development.

    Dr Nasreen also requested the farmers to stay in touch with KVK Kargil for the latest information and technologies in the field of agriculture.
