    Horticulture Dept organises training on value-added products of apricots

    Leh, Aug 19: The Department of Horticulture organised a one-day farmer training programme on preparing various value-added products of apricot such as jam, sauces and dehydrated apricots at the Fruit Processing and Training Unit, Khaltsi, as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
    Senior Scientist Dr Sajad and Assistant Professor, Division of Food Science and Technology SKUAST- Kashmir, Dr Abdul Rauf, were the
    resource persons for the training programme. Around 60 youths, farmers and entrepreneurs participated in the programme. The resource persons trained the youth on preparing various value-added products and reducing post-harvest losses of fruits.
    Speaking during the event, Horticulture Development Officer Leh, Kunzang Wangmo, requested the youths and farmers to avail themselves of the benefits of the training.
    She stated that such training would help the Ladakhi youths to set up fruit processing units in Ladakh. She shared that the Horticulture Department would assist them in setting up processing units by incorporating the schemes available with the department.
