Horticulture dept organises one-day farmer training/awareness programme at Khaltse block

Leh, March 1: The Department of Horticulture, Leh organised a one-day farmer training/awareness programme on ‘Eradication of Codling moth pest’ and ‘Pruning and Training operation in Fruit Crops’ as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in Khaltse Block.
More than 80 farmers and orchardists participated in the programme.
Ahmad Bhat, Consultant and expert in the field of Codling and Pruning from Srinagar, practically demonstrated to the farmers the techniques to be adopted while carrying out operations in the orchards, so that quality fruits could be harvested in the coming years.
Additionally, tool kits were also distributed among the farmers on 90% subsidised rate.
The programme was attended by Director, Horticulture, UT Ladakh, Mohd. Yousuf Dhar and Chief Horticulture Officer, Leh, Tsewang Phunchok.
