GDC Kargil celebrates International Women’s Day Launches Ladakhi traditional design calendar 2022, logo of Ladakhi Craft Skill Centre

    KARGIL, MARCH 12, 2022: As a part of series of activities of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and on eve of International Women’s Day, Government Degree College Kargil organized a day-long program on the theme “Skill and Women Empowerment”.
    Dr. S.K Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh (UoL) was the chief guest while Prof. Deskyong Namgyal Controller Examination UoL as the guest of honour and Dr. Zohra Bano senior gynecologist as special guest.
    At the outset, Dr. Amina Qari, Principal GDC Kargil presented traditional khatak to the guests and delivered the welcome address.
    During the day long program, the students presented a colorful program including short play, song and talks on women empowerment.
    On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor and the dignitaries also launched a Ladakhi traditional design calendar 2022 and logo of Ladakhi Craft Skill Centre.
    The calendar and the logo was conceptualized and designed by students of the skill centre. The logo has traditional Ladakhi design patterns in W shape symbolizing Wonder Women.
    The calendar carries 12 traditional designs, hand-painted by students. The designs are compiled as a part of traditional designs mapping project initiated by the centre to connect skill training and academic research for cultural and research exposure of students.
