    GDC Drass kick starts Iconic Week Celebration under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

    KARGIL, OCTOBER 25, 2021: A week-long program as part of the Iconic Week Celebration was kick-started today at Government Degree College Drass which was attended by faculty members and students of the college.
    The inaugural session started with an online talk on Future Ladakh: An overview by historian and author Ajaz Hussain Munshi.
    Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali Abbasi gave an overview of the week-long program to celebrate the Iconic Week and said that lectures, sports events, cleanliness drive, talent display and other related events will be held.
    Assistant professor, Sociology Haider Ali Askary in his welcome address introduced the speaker to the staff members and the students.
    Ajaz Hussain Munshi in his online talk gave a brief history of Ladakh and its historical and cultural importance and further emphasized for a better future of Ladakh saying it is important to understand the history of the region.
    Munshi urged the students to try and know more about the history, culture and identity of the region and write about it. He said that the future of Ladakh is sustainable development and we all need to collectively work for it. It was followed by a question and answer session in which a lot of discussion took place.
    During the open discussion with students, Dr Amjad Ali Abbasi also urged the students to try and know about their history, culture, identity and asked them to organize an ethnic and cultural fest this week in the college.
    The program ended with a vote of thanks by Haider Ali Askary. He also appreciated Ajaz Munshi for his valuable efforts in promoting cultural and heritage tourism.
