    Leh, April 28: Dy Chairman/Executive Councillor for CA&PDS, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Executive Councillor for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Tashi Namgyal Yazkee; Executive Councillor for Minority, Ghulam Mehdi Ashoor; Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel and a surveillance team of Food and Supply department with the ECs visited Leh and its adjacent areas to take stock of the essential supplies in the market. The officials inspected the quality of food products with their expiry dates along with the proper implementation of rate lists and COVID protocols (SOPs).Executive Councillors inspects food products in Leh and its adjacent areas Seized outdated products and warns violators
    It was found that many of the shops were having outdated products in their stock which include, Biscuits, Gajak, Bread Rusks, Canned Veg/Non-Veg items, and raw Macaronis. Some of the shopkeepers were found selling Cereals and Pulses without proper rate charts and some even without proper licenses. Outdated products were seized from the shopkeepers and were instructed by the concerned ECs to implement proper SOPs laid down by the District Administration as well.
    All the Executive Councillors (ECs) convened a meeting later at the Council Secretariat, Leh in the chairmanship of Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk to discuss the outcomes of the visit. Concerned ECs and supervising team put forward their feedback and suggestions in strengthening Consumer Rights and maintaining timely surveillance of the food products in the market throughout the year. It was discussed that rate charts on every shop should be visible to the consumers and strict actions will be taken against violators.
