    KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 07, 2021: Executive Councilor for Works and Information Aga Syed Abass Razvi kicked off the 1st District Volleyball Championship organized by the Kargil Volleyball Association at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Biamathang here today.
    Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Senior Superintending Police (SSP) Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Muhammad Abass besides other concerned officers were present during the opening ceremony.
    Speaking on the occasion, EC Syed Abass Razvi said that there is no dearth of talented players in the district and added that LAHDC Kargil is fully committed to upgrade sports related infrastructure and all out measures are being taken to achieve this goal. He urged the players and sports enthusiasts to identify suitable land to construct different sports complexes in their respective areas in order to facilitate such areas with necessary basic sports related facilities.
    DC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve congratulated members of the Volley Ball Association Kargil for starting sports related activities after a long break due to COVID-19. While highlighting the importance of games related activities along with academics, he said that sportsmanship helps to determine our future goals with determination and firm commitment. He said that the LAHDC and District Administration Kargil has already started to develop sports related infrastructure and different works in this regard are going on in full swing, the outcome of which will be visible soon.
    Meanwhile, the maiden match of the tournament was played between Ladakh Spartans and Friends Pashkum which was won by Friends Pashkum by 5 points.
    President Ladakh Volleyball Association Haji Mirza Hussain, President Kargil Volleyball Association Kacho Showkat Ali, General Secretary Kargil Volleyball Association Kargil Muhammad Javed, Chief Coach Ladakh Volleyball Federation Murtaza Ali besides players and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
    Pertinently, 32 teams from across the district are participating in the 4 day tournament.
