District Administration Kargil conducts demolition drive at Drass

KARGIL, MAY 19, 2022: District Administration Kargil today conducted a demolition drive against illegal land encroachments on grazing land at Goshan area of Drass and retrieved the land.
The anti-encroachment drive was conducted under the overall supervision of Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil Abdul Gaffar Zargar.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Drass, Anwar Hussain, SHO Drass Fazil Abass, besides other concerned officials of police and civil departments were also present during the drive.
Earlier, the issue of land encroachments at Goshan was sub judice at District Court Kargil. However, the drive was conducted after dismissal of the case by Principal District and Sessions Judge Kargil.
During the demolition drive, 400 to 500 kanals of grazing land was retrieved. The locals had erected fencing and planted different kinds of trees on the illegally occupied land.
The officials warned the local residents that if anybody is found involved in any kind of illegal encroachments will be dealt with strictly as per law.
The officials said such drives shall continue in other parts of the district as well so that illegal land encroachments don’t happen again.
