    CEC Tashi Gyalson reviews progress of JJM in Leh district

    Leh, June 15: The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson today convened a meeting to review the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district.
    The concerned officials apprised Chairman Tashi Gyalson of the status of the ongoing work under the JJM and the work completed. District Superintendent Engineer (DSE), PWD, Leh shared that the target for the year 2021-22 is 12,000 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in the district, 16387 detailed project reports (DPRs) are completed, 4933 allotments are issued, 1987 are in the final evaluation stage. DSE PWD also shared that several tenders under JJM failed to get responses that delayed the work as a re-tender has to be floated for such issues.
    CEC Gyalson shared that during his recent tour to the Lingshed constituency was apprised by the locals of the JJM work. He shared that the JJM work in Wanla A and B are pending. Similarly, the work has been expanded to places further than Wanla. The concerned officials informed CEC that the work in the mentioned area is pending due to the failure to attract responses from the tenders.
    CEC Gyalson shared that the department should find a viable solution in this regard so that it doesn’t hamper the progress of the work. He directed the officials to procure the required materials before the road closes, keeping in mind the short working season of Ladakh. He directed the concerned officials to procure materials beforehand so that there isn’t delay in completing the work within the specified deadline.
    The Public Health Engineering (PHE) and PWD officials put forward their issues regarding the shortfall of human resources to supervise and monitor their work and the permission to execute restoration and repair works during an emergency for their routine works carried under existing schemes. They also requested CEC Gyalson to intervene in the unregulated bore well works carried without the permission of the said department.
    CEC Gyalson directed the officials to submit a proposal to District Magistrate with proper justification regarding the shortfall of human resources. He asked the DM to issue an order on the matter of unregulated bore well works. CEC Gyalson impressed upon the concerned officials to ensure that the mandate of JJM, which aims to provide safe drinking water to every household, is not compromised and that all works are over within specified timelines.
