    KARGIL, OCTOBER, 26, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor,LAHDC,Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan along with the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve took stock of the damages to 66KV Electric Tower due to recent snowfall at Ashina near Trespone here today.
    Executive Engineer Sub Transmission Division PDD Wahab Ali, AEE Avtar Singh besides other concerned officers accompanied the CEC and DC Kargil during the tour.
    The concerned officers informed the CEC that due to heavy accumulation of snow, the 66KV tower collapsed resulting in disruption of electricity to the Sankoo station, as the tower is connected to Sankoo feeder.
    It was further informed that the foundation of the tower is still intact therefore the upper structure of the tower only needs to be erected.
    CEC Feroz Khan while underlining the importance of the transmission line said that the tower should be erected by the end of October, 2021 as people of Sankoo in general and students in particular are suffering due to unavailability of electricity as the final exams are approaching.
    The CEC was informed that a technical team from Srinagar has arrived in Leh, the machinery and equipment for restoration will reach by today evening at the site and from tomorrow onwards work on the restoration of the 66KV tower will get started on war footing basis
    The CEC also enquired about the status of electricity supply to other areas about which he was informed that till Gramthang electricity line has been connected and will be charged up at the earliest possibility adding TSG Block will be connected by evening.
    The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to restore the tower as early as possible. He further directed the officers concerned to restore all major lines within the district at the earliest possibility.
    Meanwhile, the concerned officers urged the CEC for installation of two more towers in the Ashina belt for better supply of electricity in the area.
