    KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 06, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan inaugurated 3 days faculty development programme organised by the University of Ladakh (UoL) in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai for the teachers of Constituent Degree Colleges of Kargil at Conference Hall Baroo here today.
    Registrar University of Ladakh Imteeaz Kacho, Dean School of Development Studies TISS Mumbai and Project Leader, Professor Ashwani Kumar, Project Leader TISS Mumbai Professor Disha Nawani, Associate Professor Gargi College University of Delhi Dr Chhaya Sawhney, Dr Jyoti Dalal TISS Mumbai, Principals of Constituent Degree Colleges Kargil, Drass and Zanskar Dr Amina Qari, Dr Amjad Ali, Professor Nassir Shabani besides the teaching faculty and volunteers of Constituent Degree Colleges were present on the occasion.
    CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan addressing the gathering said that it is important that our students get educated in a better environment, and in this regard the initiative taken by TISS and UoL by organising this programme will make way for better interactive educational sessions amongst the teachers and students at their respective campuses.
    CEC Khan added that he has personally observed that a well communicated class session enhances interest among the students. He said that UoL has great responsibility to nourish the students, and he is optimistic that by organising such programmes, the university is going in a right direction.
    The CEC further said that the LAHDC Kargil is committed to enhance the capacity of human resource in the district by the conduct of different programmes and workshops to the teaching fraternity, particularly during the times of COVID-19 pandemic under various programmes, adding he expressed hope that collaborations will happen between TISS and LAHDC Kargil in future.
    Register University of Ladakh Imteeaz Kacho said that the Vice Chancellor UoL wanted to have a programme where teachers get an orientation to know how to interact with the students in a conducive environment where students ask more questions, and a two way communication can be enabled between the two. Acknowledging the efforts of the LAHDC Kargil he said that the Council has always remained supportive towards the initiative of UoL in Kargil.
    Project Leader, Professor Ashwani Kumar said that to bring social transformation among communities more partnership should happen between communities and institutions like higher education. He added the experience of 7 decades that TISS carries will be instrumental to collaborate in public service programmes in Kargil in future.
    Meanwhile, Professor Disha Navani also addressed the inaugural session while various resource persons from TISS will be imparting training on different aspects of faculty development during the three day long workshop.
    Dr Javed Iqbal Naqi coordinated the different sessions on the first day of the 3 day faculty development programme.
