    KARGIL, JUNE 02, 2022: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today attended a yoga session as part of 100 days count down before the International Yoga Day 2022. The event was organized by the Education Department Kargil in collaboration with Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh at Indira Gandhi Park, Baroo.
    Besides the CEC, President Bhikkhu Sanghasena, CEO Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Executive Engineer PHE Muhammad Hassan Lone, teachers and students of Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil and Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Kargil attended the yoga session. The members of MIMC performed yoga to the students and teachers.
    Speaking on the occasion, the CEC appreciated the works and contribution of Bhikkhu Sanghasena towards social welfare, yoga, orphans care and functioning of old age home.
    He requested the Sanghasena to provide his service in Kargil district also for which he assured support. CEC Khan further assured to collaborate with the MIMC in working for the advancement of education and yoga in the district.
    Bhikkhu Sanghasena said, Yoga on this day or on International Yoga Day, is performed symbolically while yoga is something that should be performed in daily life to avail its benefits in one’s life. He also read the message of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on yoga to the students and urged them to make yoga part of their daily life.
    The MIMC is a humanitarian, charitable, not-for-profit NGO, established in 1986 by Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena. Today, MIMC is runs welfare projects under the inspirational leadership and visionary guidance of Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena.
    Since its inception, the MIMC has worked in remote, inaccessible rural areas of Ladakh and is striving to improve lives of impoverished, underprivileged and marginalized people.
    Today, MIMC’s 250-acre campus, known as Devachan (Abode of the Divine), has grown to become a vibrant and vital hub for the delivery of multifarious humanitarian and spiritual service programs, both within Ladakh and beyond.
    Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Leh, Ladakh, as instructed by the Ministry of AYUSH, has been nominated as one of the organizations of Pan India to commemorate the 100-day countdown to the 8th UN International Yoga Day to be held on June 21, 2022.
    This year, the Government of India wishes to celebrate the 8th UN International Yoga Day and 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with much grandeur, reaching across the globe to over 25 Crore individuals and more.
    In this regard, the Ministry of AYUSH is celebrating the Yoga Day in the most iconic places in Ladakh to mark this year’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in most serene and beautiful place in India—Ladakh.
    The MIMC had been conducting a series of Yoga count down in different school like the Mahabodhi Residential School, Leh, Girls Higher Secondary School Leh, Boys Higher Secondary School Leh, Govt. Higher Secondary School Thiksey, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Skalzangling, ITBP Frontier Leh, Doordarshan Leh, DIHAR and including the yoga count down at the spectacular place Pangong lake.
