    KARGIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2021: As a part of the series of events being held in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Housing and Urban Development Department UT Ladakh and Municipal Committee Kargil in collaboration with Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) and Shoqpa Group started 3 day awareness programme on Swachhta on Jan Baghidhari at Government High School Poyen here on Wednesday.
    The awareness programme was attended by the Vice President Municipal Committee Kargil Gulzar Hussain, Ward Member Poyen Shabir Hussain, Field Coordinator LEDeG Kargil Ajaz Hussain Munshi, Co-Founder Project Shoqpa Khushboo Joshi, Headmistress Government High School Poyen Badur-un-Nissa, staff members, Safai Karamcharies of MC Kargil and students of the school.
    Vice President MC Kargil Gulzar Hussain said cleanness is one of the basic tenets of religion and Islam and all other religions teach us to keep ourselves as well as our surroundings clean. He thanked the MC Kargil and other associated organizations for conducting such resourceful programme to create awareness among the masses, adding he also expressed optimism that similar events will be conducted in future as well.
    Field Coordinator LEDeG Kargil Ajaz Hussain Munshi said that aim of this awareness programme is to create awareness among the youths so that they can forward this massage further in their respective families and other social circles.
    He further said that such awareness programmes will be conducted in future also to disseminate knowledge and awareness about the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among the general population.
    Speaking on the occasion, Co-Founder Shoqpa Khushboo Joshi stressed that cleanliness is a collective effort and it is the moral responsibility of every individual in the society to keep their vicinity and surroundings clean. Expressing concern over the degradation of environment she said we should respect Mother Nature and its laws and also should take pragmatic steps in order to protect it from future degradation.
    While underlining the importance of segregation of domestic waste she said it is important to segregate liquid and solid waste properly.
