Acting Chief Justice rolls out virtual case hearing for UT Ladakh

    Publish Date: February 6, 2023

Leh, Feb 04: Under the effervescent patronage and able guidance of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice (Acting) High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the High Court today rolled out an initiative of taking up the judicial matters of UT of Ladakh on the virtual mode by allowing the parties and lawyers to appear and plead their cases from Ladakh.

In its first-of-a-kind initiative, the Court of Justice Tashi Rabstan heard the matters of UT of Ladakh virtually, in which the lawyers and the Government representatives who were petitioners and the respondents in the listed cases appeared in virtual mode from Leh and pleaded their cases.

As many as six (6) matters of the UT of Ladakh, listed today before the Bench, were conducted virtually.

In today’s era of technology, virtually proceeding with a case by connecting different locations on one platform will be a big boon in the judicial dispensation. Rolling out such a facility for the people of Ladakh by the High Court is aimed at easing out the sufferings of the litigants and the lawyers who were earlier required to physically travel to Jammu and Srinagar to appear in their respective matters. Apart from saving time, this initiative will be financially viable for both parties to the case.

In the future, virtually hearing the matters of UT Ladakh, by allowing the parties to appear and plead their cases from Ladakh, will be a regular feature as stated by Registrar Computers (IT), High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Anoop Kumar Sharma.
