    KARGIL, MARCH 04, 2022: A 12-day winter Ice Hockey development camp for girls concluded today at Drass. The camp was organized by Drass Winter Association in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports Department Kargil.
    On the occasion, Executive Councilor Health, Mohsin Ali was the chief guest while DYSSO Kargil, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma was the guest of honour.
    SDM Drass, Anwar Hussain, Zonal Education Planning Officer (ZEPO) Drass, Noor Ahmed, incharge Station House Master (SHO) Drass, Haider Ali besides other concerned officers and large number of people were present during the concluding ceremony.
    On the occasion, EC Mohsin congratulated the organizers for successfully organizing the camp and hailed participants for taking part and making it in a successful event.
    Highlighting the importance of participation of girls in every sphere of life, the EC said LAHDC Kargil is committed to extend support to them to achieve more in in sports as well.
    The EC health also said that there is no dearth of talent in Kargil while correct guidance and support is needed.
    EC Mohsin said that this winter many scheduled sports activities related to winter sports were canceled due to Covid-19 restrictions. He said next year, many winter sports-related activities will be held in Drass at a large level as the place is an ideal place for winter sports.
    The EC extended best wishes to the budding players and advised them to take Ice Hockey sport as a serious career option and hoped that in the future these players will represent Ladakh at national and international platforms.
    On the occasion, DYSSO Kargil, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma also congratulates the organizers, participants and assured full support from the department in the future for conducting sports activities in Drass.
    He said that an international level of Ice Hockey Rink is under construction at Drass.
    Rehnuma also informed that winter sports academy will be constructed in Drass and for which land has been identified and in the coming season the construction work will also start.
    DYSSO Kargil also said that sports office Kargil plays a role to felicitate aspiring youth who want to excel in sports.
    He said District Youth Services and Sports Office, Kargil, is committed to fulfilling the demands of players so that they represent Ladakh at various National International platforms.
    During the camp, more than 24 girls between the ages of 6-15 were trained in basic and advanced stage to acquire various skills of Ice Hockey including Skating, Drills, Puck Handling, Games rules and other related skills. The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates.
